Breaking out of the cages were confined in is half the battle. Our mindset once we taste freedom is the other half.
We are no longer prisoners of our secret stories but we still walk as if we are still confined. This is due to the mentality we develop in our cages. While in the cage of our life’s situations that held us back we developed a mindset of fear and inferiority.
The mindset of Freedom is not automatic for everyone. There are some people who will struggle to walk in freedom because their mind constantly remembers the boundaries of the cage. The limitations of the cage and the freedom to live life in abundance clash in a war over our hearts and minds.
We must come to the place where we recognize the freedom is not just physically but it is also mentally. We cannot take a cage mindset into a place of growth and freedom. We must determine in our hearts to live free from the limitations the cage of life places around us.
Step away from the ruins of your shattered life. We maintain a cage mentally when we don’t walk away from the broken pieces of the cages that held us, HOSTAGE. Instead of moving forward to explore our newfound freedom, we sit beside the ruins trying to figure out why it took so long to find freedom.
The length of time it took us to find freedom is not relevant. What is important is that we found the courage to not only be free of the cage but also we had the strength to destroy the things that held us back.
Don’t wallow in the shame of your cage but rather acknowledge you are no longer that child, that man, that woman held prisoner to life’s nasty situations. You are not caged anymore.
For us to walk in freedom and break free from a caged mentality we must acknowledge we are no longer a prisoner. Facing the truth is always the first step in any journey. Whether it’s to break free what confines and control us or whether it is to walk in freedom knowing Christ came to set you free.
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1 ESV)
Transformation is a journey that needs our YES to everything that will happen along the way.
